| ABOUT OUR VIDEO TUTORIALS |
In this series of video tutorials, REF3D looks to Kenny Lammers,
art lead for Activision's Central Technology division, to show you the tools and techniques he uses to create
characters for video games in Maya. He will take you step by step through each step of these processes making
sure they are completely understood and why they work.
These tutorials start off by showing how to utilize the products that Reference3D offers to create stunning characters
for use in your production or for your own art. The videos start off with a basic setup in Maya and show you how to get
the characters blocked out and ready for Zbrush. Once set up the characters are brought into Zbrush to be given higher
resolution details that game productions demand today.
From there the pieces are individually converted to the appropriate maps and brought back into Maya.
Once the characters details are done REF3D will show you how to finish it up with textures and explain other types of
textures that are used by some of the more advanced game engines.
This complete series will end with REF3D showing you how you can then take your model and export it for use in the
Torque Game engine, complete with textures and animations.
These videos assume that you have a basic understanding of Maya, Zbrush, and Photoshop, and are not intended as a beginners guide to Maya,
Zbrush, and Photoshop.
